Tallaght Athletic club juvenile athletes were very prominent at the Dublin Community Games Cross Country Qualifiers at Tymon Park on Sunday. At stake were medals for the first six and the opportunity to represent Dublin at the National Community Games Finals in Mosney in May.
First on the podium for the club were Roisin O Hanlon in 2nd place for Belgard followed by Killinarden girls Anne Marie Mc Lean in 4th and Elizabeth Doyle in 5th. Belgard’s Stephen Worth in 2nd place and Martin Cowan in 4th place will also make the trip to Mosney after their performances in the U12 Boys qualifier.
Killinarden’s Aisling Johnston showed her rivals a clean pair of heels when storming home in the U14 race and she will be joined in Mosney by club mates Rebecca Game from Belgard who finished in 2nd place and Tymon North’s Fiona Byrne who finished in 4th place.
Tallaght athletes dominated in the Boys U14 with Belgard’s Ciaran Dunne swooping late to take 1st place with Belgard’s Niall Forrester in 3rd , Tymon North’s Darryl Mahon in 4th and Darren Meehan in 5th.
Greenhill’s Jade Corcoran will be Tallaght’s sole representative at U13 degree after her 2nd place finish while Kilnamanagh’s Eoghan Hennessy will be very pleased with the way he dominated yesterdays U13 race and he will be a lively contender in Mosney.
Other Tallaght AC athletes who performed well and just failed to qualify were Sean Fitzsimons, Rhys Coleman, Zara Gaynor, Claire Doyle, Carol Jones, Robin Reece and Grace Kristensen.
