AAI National Juvenile Track and Field 'B' Championships

Tallaght athletic club juveniles tried hard in yesterdays AAI National
Juvenile Track and Field 'B' Championships in Tullamore but it was to be a day of near misses for the club.
Roisin O Hanlon finished fourth in the U12 600M final with club mates Zara Gaynor, Emma Prior and Robyn Reece close behind.
Frank Jones and Sean Fitzsimons produced personal best performances in U12 Long Jump and Ball Throw.
Darryl Mahon led home the Tallaght boys in the U13 600M with Niall Forrester and race debutant John Bodie not far behind.
Ciara O Leary won her U12 80M heat, finished 3rd in the semi final and fifth in her final while Fiona Byrne produced heroic performaces to reach the
final of the U13 80M sprint and the final of the U13 600M where she finished a close fifth.
Carla Fullam made the cut in the U14 Shot Putt to finish 4th and Niall Forrester also made the last eight in the U13 Shot Putt.
Carla Fullam also produced a seasons best performance to finish a very creditable 7th in the U14 800M final.
Sean Morris finished just outside the medals in fourth place in the U16 High Jump as did David Somerville who lost out in a ding dong battle in the U16
800M final while Michael Solan also made his mark in the U16 100M and Long Jump.
The clubs senior athletes go into action next week in round two of the Mazda League at Santry while the juveniles take a well earned rest before
commencing their preparations for the forthcoming cross country season. |
