The emergence of Tallaght AC's Tomas
Fitzpatrick continued on Sunday the 16th September in Ballyboughal,
North County Dublin when he lined up in only the second running of this
race, the Clonliffe 5. Tomas crossed the line in 26min 37sec in 4th
place, a fine run but the fact that he is a bit disappointed with his
time shows the standards to which he now measures himself by. Tomas has
had some great runs this year. He is this years Dublin Novice 5k
Champion and has had some notable scalps this year too including
Rathfarnham WSAF's Paul Fleming to name but one.
Indeed the club is expecting great things in the near future as with the
ever improving Tomas and Sean Connolly now home from America the top
prizes are now within the clubs reach again. Tom Fitzpatrick senior did
well too and crossed the line in a little over 35 mins. The race was won
by Cork man Alan O Shea, this years Cork City Marathon winner.
Coincidentally last years Clonliffe race winner,Tallaght AC's O/35 Davy
Byrne who won in 25min 46secs wasn't able to defend his title as he was
on holidays.
