Tallaght AC certainly made their mark at the Leinster Athletics Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Olympic Stadium in Nenagh.

The Club had just one competitor in the Junior/U20 grade and Peter Fitzsimons only three weeks back in training following an injury received in the Raheny 5 was first on the podium to pick up a silver medal for his 4.28 run in the 1500M.

Laura Mc Donnell was making a well overdue return at the famous old stadium and she ran a seasons best performance to take the silver medal in the Senior Ladies 1500M.

The Club featured 2 debutantes in the Senior Ladies 400M and Gemma Browne made light of her inexperience to finish 3rd in her heat as did Tracey Powell who finished 4th in her heat.
These three athletes teamed up with Peig Henry in the last event of the day to take the Silver Medal in the 4x200M relay with Laura Mc Donnell simply outstanding in the anchor leg.

Martina Farrell was another making her first visit to the track and she can be well pleased with her Silver Medal performance in the Masters 200M and the Shot Putt. Peig Henry improves by the week and got her reward with a super performance to take the Gold Medal in the 0/35 1500M category.

Sean and Paula Murray fresh from their success at National Level just three weeks ago were strong favourites in the Masters 200M and 400M and so it proved to be with the pair bringing home 4 gold medals. Paula Murray always seems to run the perfect tactical race while Sean's performance in the 200M was one of the days highlights
.
Janice Mahon can also be well pleased with her first performance at the venue when she took the bronze medal in the O40 200M final.

Paula Murray , Martina Farrell, Janice Mahon and Jenny O Connor went to the line in a very exciting 4x200M relay and combined well to secure the Bronze medal.

All in all this was a super effort from a relatively unexposed bunch of hardworking athletes and with the Indoor Season now over a rewarding outdoor season beckons.
