Tallaght Athletic Club make great start in Graded
League
Tallaght Senior Athletes made their mark at the first round of the 2004 Dublin Graded League series at Santry Stadium last Friday.
Keith Sherlock got the ball rolling with a 2nd place finish in the Grade D 100m and went one better later that evening when easily winning his 800M final.
Ger Purcell is another who can be pleased with his performance in the Grade A 100M where he clocked 11.76 to finish 5th overall. Valerie Lacey rounded off a very satisfactory night for the club when she finished 4th in the 800M with a fine time of 2.41.
The club was also represented in the BHAA Kepak 8 mile run on Saturday and the Star Performer here was Derek Quinn whose time of 46.38 was good enough for him to take 2nd place in the O/45 classification. Colm Barcoe and Bill Murphy also clocked sub-50 minute times while Niamh Oman and Linda Crowthers can be well pleased with their debut run over this distance.
All roads lead to Cushinstown this coming Sunday when Tallaght juvenile athletes will travel with high hopes of success at the Cushinstown AC Annual Track and Field Sports Day.
