National Indoor Track and
Field Championships Nenagh

Athletic club juvenile athletes travelled to Nenagh last weekend to compete in
the first weekend of the National Juvenile Indoor Track and Field Championships.
First on the podium for the club was Claire Murray
who secured the bronze medal in the U19 Shot Putt competition.
Fiona Mc Carthy went one better when producing a
season’s best performance to take the silver medal in the U19 400M final.
Tracy Williams made it a great weekend for the girls when dominating the U19
1500M final by leading the race from start to finish to take the gold medal and
National title.
Aisling Johnston and Rebecca Game secured their places in the U13 600M final and finished in 4th and 6th place respectively.
Stephanie Game narrowly missed out on a place in the U18 300M Final while Shane
Doody and Johnathan Smith also ran well in the sprints.
Darren Byrne went close when finishing just
outside the medals in the U17 High Jump and he also made the final of the U17
Hurdles.
Luke Coleman qualified for the final of the U15 hurdles and Ger Purcell
and Jeffrey Sheridan also qualified for the final of the U18 and U17 60M finals.
There was encouraging performances also from Ciara O’ Leary, Ciaran
Dunne, Eoghan Hennessy, Carla Fullam and Derek Quinn.
Many of these athletes will be back in action in the final weekend of
competition on April 5th and 6th.
The club would like to wish Robert Fitzsimons the best of luck when he
competes in next Saturdays International Schools Cross Country Championship.
