Tallaght Athletic Club
Steal the Show

Tallaght Athletic Club were back on the podium in some style at the Navan AC Inter-club Track and Field sports day at Claremont Stadium on Sunday. This event is traditionally Tallaght’s last involvement on the track before the cross country season commences and attracted entries from over thirty clubs from all over Ireland.
First on the podium for the club was Ciara Henry to collect her silver medal in the U10 80M. Anne Marie Mc Clean kept the run going when she also took silver in the U11 100M. The 600M finals were also dominated by Tallaght athletes with Aisling Johnston winning
gold (U13) while Peter Fitzsimons (U14) and Jade Corcoran took silver (U13).
Johnston also took Gold in the High Jump and silver in the Long Jump.
Tallaght won their share in the middle distance events with Robert Fitzsimons winning Gold in the U16 800M with club mate David Somerville in 3rd. Bronagh O Hanlon won Gold in the Junior 1500M with Orla Nugent securing the bronze while Tracy Williams won Gold in the Senior 3000M final.
Tallaght had huge success in the sprints with Ger Purcell winning the 100M, 200M and finishing 2nd in the 400M. Fiona Mc Carthy won the Junior 100M and was runner up in the 400M which was won by Tallaght’s Stephanie Game who also finished 3rd in the 100M and second in the Long Jump. Eve Riordan put in a classy performance to take the Senior 100M Gold while Shane Doody was 2nd in the U16 100M with Tallaght’s Sean Bolger back in 3rd and Laura Finlay took the Bronze at U16 degree.
In the field events, Eoghan Hennessy won bronze in the U13 high jump as did David Somerville at U16 degree while Claire Murray also took bronze in the Senior Ladies Shot Putt.
The last events of the day were the Relay finals and Tallaght can be well pleased with their results as follows:

These performances ensured the large Tallaght support had plenty to cheer about on the day.
The cross country season starts next week with the first Dublin Athletic Board League race in the Phoenix Park and a bold showing can be expected from this committed team of athletes.
