Dunboyne Easter Festival of
Racing Tallaght Athletic club juvenile athletes travelled to the Dunboyne Easter Festival of Racing on Easter Sunday and can be well pleased with their efforts with having won 4 out of ten races and taking home 24 trophies or medals. This Festival attracted entries from the North-east, Dublin, Midlands and Meath with medals and trophies awarded to the top ten finishers in each race. First into action were the Girls U9 and all four Tallaght athletes were in the medals with Shannon Mahon first home in 2nd place followed by Carol Jones in 3rd, Jade Johnston in 7th and race debutant Nadine Gaynor who finished 9th. The clubs only runner in the Boys U9 event was Alan Hudson and he collected the bronze medal when finishing fast to take 3rd place. In the Girls U11 race, Roisin O Hanlon was the first Tallaght athlete home in 6th with Emma Prior (8th) and Zara Gaynor (10th) also collecting medals. The clubs only runner in the Boys U11 event was Sean Fitzsimons and he also won a medal when finishing in 7th place. Tallaght girls stole the show in the U13 race with Aisling Johnston flying home in first followed by Aoibheann Tierney in 2nd and Shauna Murphy in 7th place. The Boys U13 was a similar affair with Peter Fitzsimons leading the pack in 2nd place followed by Paul Hudson in 4th, Eoghan Hennessy in 6th, John Lyons in 7th and Darryl Mahon in 8th. The girls U15 race was won Impressively by Bronagh O Hanlon with club mates Sarah Bodie in 3rd and Carla Fullam in 7th. Robert Fitzsimons led his race from start to finish to win the Boys U15 race with Oisin Purcell staking his claim for a medal in 7th place. Tallaght dominated the last event of the day with Keith Hudson winning the U17 event in which Chris Healy took second place. The club will bring a strong team to next weeks Dublin Athletic Board Open Sports at Morton Stadium. |
