Sean Murray and his wife Paula will join
thousands of firefighters from more than 30 countries in Liverpool for
the World Firefighting Games 2008.
The Games kicked off with a parade led by the Irish Guards at the
Liverpool Echo Arena. More than 3,000 people will compete in the events
that incude Athletics, Football, Swimming and Horse riding and the Games
will last for 10 days.
Sean and Paula are members of Tallaght AC and only recently competed at
the National Masters Track and Field Championships in Tullamore. The
pair who are dedicated to their sport made light of their inexperience
at this level with Paula winning Gold in the 200M and 400M while Sean
won Silver in the 400M.
Indeed confidence is high that they can bring home a few medals from
Liverpool and both athletes have entered a range of events to maximise
their chances of success.
Nearer to home Tallaght AC's Peig Henry competed in the Longford Half
Marathon last Sunday and can be well pleased with her personal best
performance of 1hr 42 .20
