(by Ray Fitzsimons)

Tallaght AC juvenile athletes can certainly look forward to the National Cross Country Championships in Mullingar and Killybegs following their performances on Sunday when they competed in the Dublin Athletic Board Cross Country County Championships for Even aged athletes at Cabinteely Park.

Aisling Johnston won the U13 title last week and stepped up a year to dominate proceedings in yesterdays U14 title and she will certainly be a force to be reckoned with at National level.

Robert Fitzsimons who romped home at U15 degree last week also ran yesterday at U16 level and had a ding dong battle with DSD's Brendan O Neill to finish a close second. His team of Luke Coleman, Anthony Lieghio, Shane Doody and Mark Power won the Club Team Silver medal and will compete in Killybegs.

Peter Fitzsimons is also enjoying a rich vein of form having qualified last week at U15 level and he will be delighted with his performace when winning the Bronze medal in yesterdays U14 race. His team of Ciaran Dunne, Eoghan Hennessy, Jason Power and John Bodie also won Club Team Silver medal and will also compete in Killybegs.

Jade Corcoran is also a lively contender for National honors having finished third yesterday at U12 level while Catherine Power 6th and Ciara O Leary 9th together with Roisin O Hanlon, Zara Gaynor and Kirsty Watson combined well to win the Club Team Silver medal and will also travel to Killybegs.

Bronagh O Hanlon who took third place last week at U17 level also showed she is approaching her best when finishing strongly to take the Bronze medal in the U16 race. Also going to the Nationals will be Orla Nugent who finished 6th in the U18 race and Frank Jones who finished 9th in the U12 race.

Earlier in the day Tallaghts U10 girls showed they are going to take some stopping in future events when Lauren Power, Ciara Henry, Grace Kristensen and Carol Jones secured top ten finishes while Shannon Mahon, Aisling Barrett and Shauna Mahons placings helped the team take the Silver Medal.

With forty-five individual qualifiers and 7 teams from Tallaght qualifying for the Nationals this augurs well for the club and its supporters.
