The legend that is Garry Clarke takes part in
his 25th Dublin Marathon on the October Bank Holiday Weekend. Garry also
affectionately known as "The Boss" by his club mates warmed up nicely in
the Dublin Half Marathon on Saturday morning by claiming 3rd place in
the Master 0/55 category with a time of 1 hour 31mins 07secs. Garry has
now finished over 40 marathons and is still flying along. Top man Garry.
Tallaght AC Marathon RECORD holder Derek Quinn is lining up in his 20th
marathon and a lot of eyes will be on his back as he is the principal
pacemaker for the three hour group in the marathon itself. No
doubt he will encourage and cajole people in his group and be
responsible for an awful lot of people achieving that milestone, he
tuned up with an 85 minute half marathon last Saturday morning.
His record time set in the National Marathon a few years back is a
fantastic 2 hours 37mins and 20secs, a time that most people can only
dream about.
The talented Niall Coppinger will be looking to improve on his p.b. of 2
hours 44mins and 42secs and few would bet against him doing that.
Bill Murphy, Martin Haddock, Pat Kelly and Gerry O Brien will all be
wearing the red and yellow too at the end of October.
Tallaght's Ladies will be led by Deirdre Pitts, her training partner
Jacqui Boyle and Helen Dunne. Deirdre was 3rd lady in the F0/45 category
in the Half Marathon last Saturday morning, a great confidence booster
before the big race. She was followed closely by Jacqui who
claimed 5th in the F0/40 and Helen who was 4th in the F0/45 category.
Our ladies are quite good, so they are!!! Best of luck to each and
every one of you on the day. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!
