Busy & Productive Weekend for Tallaght A.C.

Last weekend was a busy but productive weekend for Tallaght A.C. with athletes competing at various events throughout the Country and abroad.

On Saturday in the Eircom BHAA Cross Country 2 Miles for Women Jaqui Boyle was the first to cross the line for the club in 14.02 followed by Tara Woods (14.25) with Anna King next in 14.27 and her time was good enough to take 2nd in the O/50 category, whilst Gerry Woods was the first to finish the men’s 5 miles in 30.36 followed by Brendan Ryan (31.55), Gary Williams (32.23), Viv O’ Hanlon 2nd O/60 (43.11), Dave Meehan (34.50), Karl Geraghty and Donal Sheridan (38.46).

On the same day in Nenagh Artjom Kutjavin had two good runs in his first ever indoor competition and his first outing of the year when he finished 4th overall in AAI Indoor Games 400m in 53.86 after earlier finishing 7th overall in the 1,000m contests with a time of 2.38.96.

At the same venue Patrick Curran the 2011 National Senior Munti event s champion added another title when he won the Masters Indoor Combined Events Title with 2638 points which he accumulated after producing some sound performances in 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, Shot Putt, High Jump and 1,000m competitions and Alan Ward in his first ever combined events competition finished 5th overall in the Senior competition.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Tomas Fitzpatrick won the Great Heath 10k in Portlaoise in a good time of 32.05 with Eoin Brennan following him home in 7th in 34.40 with Paddy Lyons who finished in 37.45 combing to take 1st in the Team category, whilst in Nenagh Uchenna Uwechue contested the National Junior 800m Indoor Championships in Nenagh finishing in 2.12.04.

Niall Coppinger and Desie Shorten made the trip to France to compete in Trail Blance where Niall was 1st M50 in the 12k race and Dessie 3rd M50 in the 26k contest.

Many of our Masters are presently preparing for the National Masters Cross Country Championships which will take place in Lough Key Forest Park in Roscommon in early February whilst our juveniles are preparing for the Dublin Juvenile Indoor Championships which start on 17th February with 3 days of Competition in Santry and 3 days on the Tallaght Track.
