Anthony Secures National Title for Tallaght

Anthony Lieghio had an excellent run against some of the most talented competitors in the Country at the National Juvenile Championships in Tullamore last weekend. As this was his final year in juvenile competition he was determined to make his mark and he did this in true style with an emphatic victory in the U19 800m contest, clocking 1.55.25 in the process.

The previous day Sean Fitzsimons contested the U14 discus competition where he threw in excess of 27m to claim the bronze medal, whilst Rebecca Game made the U17 300m final where she finished 6th. Christine Reardon finished 8th in the U17 Hammer contest in her first National competition and John Daly also tasted his first National T&F competition and after competing in the 80m hurdles, 80m sprint and 600m will have gained valuable experience at this level of competition. Brian Connolly with only a few sessions under his belt after a recent broken collar bone contested the In the U17 3,000m Brian Connolly who has only recently returned to training after a broken collar did as well as could be expected with an 8th place finish in the final.
