Ninety runners toed the line for the start of the last race in the Winter Meet + Train League at Balheary Park in Swords on Sunday. Recent rain provided tough underfoot conditions on a cold Sunday morning. Edel Madigan of Sportsworld made it four from four when she won the final round of the series. In second place was Donore's much improved Aoife Rickard, while third was Susan McDonnell of Sportsworld. Finishing with two in the top ten was Tallaght AC - well done to Sharon Tighe 7th and Paula Murray 10th.
Sportsworld B are the top team overall, followed by Tallaght A and Donore A.
This is Tallaght’s highest placing in many years at this event and many of Tallaght’s athletes will compete at the Torrevieja Half Marathon in Spain in three weeks time.
Sharon Tighe (Pictured below) has been a model of consistency in this league finishing in the top seven in all four races. Paula Murray has improved her placing with every run and deservedly secured a top ten finish on Sunday.
Lisa Curley is another who has caught the eye and it wont be long before she progresses to top ten placings. Susan Adams is at her best on cross country and she can well pleased with yesterdays 18th place as can Marisa Mc Millan who secured 20th place. Martina Farrell is another who has featured in all four races and she too can look back with satisfaction on her performance in this league.
