Race 2
of the Ladies Meet and Train Cross Country Winter League took place in
a rain sodden Tymon Park last Sunday. Despite the atrocious underfoot
conditions and Storm force winds Tallaght AC had no less that two full
teams line up in a surprisingly large field of competitors.
Three of
the ladies had finished in the top twenty placings in Race 1 and a
strong showing was expected from the Tallaght outfit.
As the
results below show the girls went one better this week with 4
finishers in the top17 placings. Sharon Tighe battled her way through
the mud and was just denied a top six placing near the end. Paula
Murray improved her placing from 18th to 9th
with a great run and Susan Adams ran her best ever race in a Tallaght
singlet in 13th. Lisa Curley put in another sound
performance as did Marisa Mc Millan and Gwen Baker doing their best
work on Lap 2.
Janice
Mahon, Jenny O Connor, Martina Farrell, Susan Holland and Mairead Nic
Siosta all played their part in a great team performance and many of
the aforementioned will feature in next Sundays Dublin Intermediate
Cross Country Championships in Tymon Park.
