Tallaght Athletic Club Introduction Note

Tallaght AC are a prominent and rapidly growing athletic club who cater for runners and athletes of all abilities and ages. Whether you simply want to run and train for fun or hope to compete at local, national or international level you can be assured of a big welcome at the club.

The membership at the club ranges from age 7 to 68 and coaching is offered in sprints, relay events, middle distance running, long distance running, hurdles, javelin, shot putt, discus and long jump.

Our 400 metre track and our new clubhouse is located beside Westpark Gym (near the Astro Park) just outside Tallaght Village on the Greenhills Road. This 10,000 square foot state of the art building includes a gymnasium and shower/changing facilities. Our flood lights have been designed to facilitate TV coverage so the track is well illuminated for the winter months.

We train at the track from 7pm to 8pm on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and for the committed athlete who wants to do middle distance and long distance running we meet at the clubhouse for off track endurance training on Monday and Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm and on Sundays at 9am.

Juvenile membership costs €1 per week or can be paid in one amount of 50 Euro for a full year. Adult membership costs €120 per year. This membership fee is used to secure your insurance and membership with the Athletic Association of Ireland.

There are four qualified coaches available to bring out your natural sporting talents so why not come down to track and meet us and ask for Ray or Tony. We will offer advice and encouragement and you decide how much you want to train.

If you want to know more check out our website at www.tallaghtac.ie  or read about our involvement in athletics most weeks in the Tallaght Echo.
