Tallaght AC Athletes Show their Colours in Dunboyne
By Ray Fitzsimons

The 37th running of the Dunboyne Easter Sunday 4 Mile Road Race took place on April 16th 2006. A large crowd turned out on the day to cheer on the over 300 athletes that took part and Tallaght Athletic Club athletes were at the front of the action from the start.

The 4 mile race was won by Stephen Sharp, Belgrave Harriers but it was the young bridage of runners from Tallaght that stole the show. Robert Fitzsimons made light of his youth against senior opposition when he stormed home to take the Junior Mens title in 20.51 some thirty seconds clear of his nearest rival. His overall placing of 13th was a huge achievement given the quality of the opposition.

Seventeen years old Luke Coleman is another who will be happy with his personal best performance of 22.23 and both athletes were back on the podium along with Colm Barcoe and Martin Haddock to take the Bronze Team Title back to Tallaght.Frank Ferguson, Peter Fitzsimons, Vivian O Hanlon, Terry Fayne and Sean Walsh also played their part in a great day for the men from Tallaght.

The Ladies contingent from Tallaght also made their mark and again it was the youngest lady from the club who stole the show when Bronagh O' Hanlon won the Junior Ladies award in 27.29.Anne Marie Byrne showed she is recovering well from recent injury and Niamh Oman can also be well pleased with her time on the day.

Earlier there were two races for juveniles and Roisin O Hanlon (Bronagh's sister) produced the days best performance in 2nd place with club mate Zara Gaynor close behind. Sean Fitzsimons, Christopher Delaney and Stuart and Philip Kelly were well up the field in the boys events.
