Tallaght athletes produced some excellent
performances in the Dublin Master Cross Country Championships. The tough
and demanding course included a number of hilly sections and water
hazards and was laid out and designed to test the strength and stamina
of the competitors, but the Tallaght competitors on the day showed they
were up to the task with both Davy Byrne (4th overall) and Dessie
Shorten (one of the course designers) mastering the conditions to take
top honours in the O/35 and O/50 categories respectively, whilst Niall
Coppinger took silver in the O/45 category and Gary Clarke bronze in the
O/55 section.

bronze in the O/40 ladies masters and she was followed home by Peig
Dunne and Susan Adams who both ran well on the day.
Other athletes to complete the testing course on a very cold 5th of
January were, Brendan Ryan, Sean Murray, Derek Quinn, Gary Moralee, Sean
