Tallaght Athletes in Great FormA number of Tallaght athletes were in great form last weekend in a number of top class events at home and abroad.
In his first Marathon outing Sean Connolly did exceptionally well in the Rotterdam Marathon on Sunday where he finished 15th overall with a great time of 2.17.21 which undoubtedly puts him on the right track in his quest for the Olympic qualifying standard. Elsewhere more than 30 Senior Tallaght athletes competed in the 10k Spar Great Ireland Run in the Phoenix Park where the first of our senior men to cross the line was Tomas Fitzpatrick who finished 13th overall in a time of 31.27 which was enough to place him 6th in the Irish 10k Road race Championship which was incorporated in the race, Davy Byrne (33.24) was next to cross the line for the club and he was followed by the first of our Master men Brian O’ Connor (35.52), who in turn was followed home by Eoin Brennan (36.03), Paddy Lyons (38.27), Brendan Ryan (39.10), Gerry Woods (39.12), Desie Shorten (40.43), Sean Walsh (40.52), Gerry Dore (41.11), Ray Fitzsimons (41.14), Viv O’ Hanlon (41.26), Gerry O’ Brien (42.08), Dave Meehan (42.20), Karl Geraghty (43 .50), John Stokes (44.09), Irfran Quershi (44.10), Terry Fayne (47.53) and David Weakliam (55.50).

Sean Mc Cabe won silver in the 1500m steeple chase and finished 6th in the 800m whilst Kayleigh Clarke took bronze in the 500m final.
