Congratulations

Congratulations to all our medal winners in the Dublin Cross Country Championships last Sunday in the St Anne’s Park, Raheny and to all those who ran and braved the conditions on the day, well done! Tallaght started and ended the day on a winning note, with Nadine Johnston Hickey taking the U10 girls title and Sean Connolly ending the day with a superb winning performance in the Senior Men’s Championships, after 6 gruelling laps of the testing course he brought the title back to Tallaght for the first time ever. He was followed home by Jettun Dharamjai and Davy Byrne.

Our U10 champion Nadine combined with individual medallist Nicola Neamt, Alana Walsh and Megan Doyle to win the team bronze medals, whilst Christopher Duffy, after a really brave effort, unfortunately had to settle for silver in the boy’s equivalent and he led theTallaght team which included individual medal winners Seamus Noone and James Ackerman, along with Karl Graham and Jonny Turley to the team silver honours.

Kayleigh Clarke (granddaughter of Gary), in her first cross country Championships, secured an individual medal and selection on the Dublin team for next months Nationals after she finished 6th in the U12 1,000m. She was followed home by Rebecca Casey, Ciara Jordan and Maria Noone. Jade Johnston also booked her place after she won an individual medal when crossing the line in 8th in the U14 1200m contest. In the U14 boy’s, Conor Murray snatched the bronze medal on the line from our own Evan Flynn after a great tussle over 1500m and both will be looking forward to Kilbeggan next month, whilst Sean Mc Cabe won an individual medal and selection after he finished 10th in the U16 3,000m. John Daly, despite being unwell, bravely finished the race, just ahead of Philip Murray.

In the Junior Men’s 6k contest, Brian Connolly took 5th qualifying position on the Dublin Junior Team for the Nationals and led Sean Fitzpatrick, Frankie Walsh & Niall Meehan to 4th place in the team category. Roisin O’ Hanlon, stepping up two years, finished a good 12th in the Junior Ladies contest.

Many of our Juveniles will be competing again this coming Sunday in Dublin Uneven Age Cross Country Championships in Marlay Park, Rathfarnham, starting at 11am. Please lend them your support!
