National Team Gold for Tallaght Women

There was further National success for the club in Waterford last weekend where more than 22 of our athletes completed the National Half Marathon Championships with the Master Ladies Team taking team gold after the combined times of Jaqui Boyle (1.31.39), Sharon Tighe (1.34.18) and Anna King (1.37.20) secured another great victory for the club. Anna Kings also secured an individual silver after she was the second to finish in the O/50 category, whilst Gerry Woods (1.22.52), Brendan Ryan (1.25.29) and Derek Quinn (1.27.18) also made the podium after their combined times were good enough to win the bronze medals in the O/50 masters category. Liz Conroy was another to make the podium after her finishing time of 1.50.09 was good enough to take the Silver medal in the V6 category.

There were also some fine individual performances from the likes of Eoin Brennan who was the first Tallaght athlete to finish in a time of 1.15.17 with Keith Sherlock a few places further back running 1.15.30 for the distance and Niall Coppinger was the 3rd Tallaght athlete to finish in 1.16.48.

Paddy Lyons was another to run well, recording 1.23.07, not too far behind team medallist Gerry Woods and clear of the next finishers for the club, team medallists Brendan Ryan and Derek Quinn. Team gold medallist Jaqui Boyle preceded Ifran Quereshi and Martin Haddock who crossed the line with the same time of 1.34.06 followed by the other two ladies team gold medallists Sharon Tighe and Anna King with Marissa mc Millan the next club member to finish in 1.37.47 and she was followed home by Jennie Jones (1.38.51), Deidre Pitts (1.41.30), Tara Woods (1.45.22), Liz Conroy (1.50.09), Susan Adams (1.50.18), Grainne Coogan (1.54.55), Terry Fayne (1.56.34), Liz Masterson (2.14.01), Fiona Brown (2.20.55).

Many of these athletes will be looking forward to the Dublin Novice, Intermediate and Senior Cross Country Championships our own 5 Mile Road Race which takes place on Sunday 9th October, starting at 10.30am. This Race is open to all comers and with Prize money now in the region of €3,000 a good turnout is expected for this inaugural race. Register on line at tallaghtac.ie
