Tallaght Juvenile Athletes Claim More Titles

There was further success for the club at the concluding day of the Dublin Juvenile Indoor Championships on Sunday 22nd March with our young competitors claiming two more titles to the add to the recent haul of medals.

In the U15 800m John Daly went top of the podium after he ran a very confident and tactical race. Keeping close tabs on the leaders over the first 400m he was alert to every move, and when one athlete broke from the group with 300m remaining he moved with him until the final bend, where he made his decisive move, sprinting the last 100m to win the title by a comfortable 20m.

At U18 degree, Roisin O’ Hanlon led the field from start to finish in her 800m contest to take her first track title, adding to her recent 1500m bronze win.

Earlier on the same day many of our juveniles were in top form when representing their local areas in the Dublin Community Games cross country trials at Tymon Park. Nadine Johnston Hickey and Nicole Fullam both made the cut for Killinarden after finishing 3rd and 4th in the U12 contest, whilst Evan Flynn led from start to finish in the boys equivalent for Old Bawn, with Eoin Doherty following him home in 3rd for Kilnamanagh.

In the U13 contest Conor Murray did likewise for Kilnamanagh with Jamie Griffin taking the 3rd spot for Killinarden, whilst both John Daly and Jade Johnston Hickey were clear winners for Limekiln and Killinarden respectively with Savanah Hurley also making the cut for Killinarden after she finished 3rd.

All will be hoping to add further success to their achievements when they represent the Capital in the Community Games National Finals in Athlone in May.
