Cheer for Tallaght A.C.
There was
lots to cheer about in the Phoenix Park last weekend for
Tallaght A.C. at the finish of the Donore Harriers Annual Jingle
Bells 5k road race when last years runner up and recently
crowned Tallaght A.C. Senior Athlete of the Year Tomas
Fitzpatrick crossed the line to take a well deserved victory in
a very good time of 14.40 ahead of Raheny athletes Ritchie
Corcoran and Daire Bermingham who made it a very close contest
from start to finish.
Davy
Byrne put in another solid performance to take 2nd in the O/35
category after he crossed the line in 15th overall (16.16) and
Jaqui Boyles 52nd placing in a time of 19.31 was enough to
secure the prize in the O/40 category.
Dave Meehan was next to finish for the club in 76th (20.34) and
Viv O’ Hanlon was the first in the O/55 category after he
crossed the line in 8th (20.34) with daughter Roisin five places
back in 89th (20.46). Gerry Woods who was having his first run
out after an injury he sustained in training a few weeks after
the Dublin Marathon followed them home a little further back.
Unfortunately the National Uneven Age Cross Country
Championships which were scheduled for Tullamore last weekend
were cancelled and the 26 Tallaght competitors who will be
representing the County and the club will undoubtedly be looking
forward to January 16th when the contests will hopefully take
place and where many of them are expected to do well.
