Championship Success for Tallaght Juveniles
The Dublin
juvenile Cross Country Championships at Santry on Sunday last
was another very successful outing for the club.
The under 10 girls were the first group to toe the line for the
1,000m contest where individual medallist Eve Keegan led Fay
Dervan, Sophia Kourrini, Orla Doyle and Katie Jordan to team
bronze, whilst in the boys equivalent Kevin Lahiffe, Ianaengus
Geraghty and Carl Graham in addition to winning individual
medals, combined with Dylan Byrne and Kayden Armstrong to take
the Top team honours.
There was further success for the club in the U12 2,000m
contests where Grace Dervan and Nadine Johnston Hickey who were
conceding a year to most of their rivals finished amongst the
individual medallists and secured their place on the Dublin team
for the National Championships in Derry on 28th of November, and
combined with Rebecca Casey (14th), Ciara Jordan (19th) and
Alana Walsh who also stepped up in age to win the team silver
medals and qualification as one of the three Dublin teams for
the Nationals.
The boys U12 took
a similar team colour after Cathal Dervan, individual Silver
medallist, Seamus Noone and Michael Ward individual medallists
and qualifiers for Dublin combined with James Ackerman and Ryan
Kidd to book their place in the team contest at Nationals.
In the U16 4,000m Tallaght had three individual medallists and
qualifiers for the County & Regional squads in the top 12 with
Boniface Chege (8th) leading Sean Mc Cabe (10th), Conor Murray
(12th) and Dylan Kennedy, the latter two stepping up in age, to
team silver, whilst in the girls equivalent Jade Johnston
unfortunately retired after the first circuit.
Roisin O’ Hanlon
contested the 3,000m Junior Women’s Championships, but
unfortunately finished out of the qualifying positions over a
distance too short for her liking, whilst in the Junior Men’s
contest Brian Connolly was the first to cross the line with
Uchenna Uwechue one place further back followed by Sean
Fitzpatrick and Niall Meehan.
