Six of Tallaght Athletic Clubs Ladies made the relatively short journey to the 3rd annual
M3 Monavea Women's Mini Marathon that took place in St Abban's AC, Monavea, Crettyard, Co Laois last Sunday. The race was run over 7.5K on country roads and included a solid climb of approximately 4 Kilometers. The winding course provided a stern test of stamina on a cool breezy day. Clare Phelan an accomplished athlete of the highest caliber, representing the host club was first across the line in 28.58, but Tallaght certainly made their presence felt with 3 athletes placing in the top ten.
Recent bronze team medalist in the National 10k championships Sharon Tighe continued her good form when crossing the line in 5th in 31.35, whilst Marisa Mc Millan secured her first ever top ten finish on the roads in 7th place and was chased home by Peig Dunne in 8thwho is Peig certainly showing signs of a return to her best form. Susan Adams finished in the chasing pack in 17th with club colleague Susan Holland in 34th. The placings were complete with race debutant Audrey Grainger who can be well pleased with her first competitive run.
