Roisin Finally Makes Her Mark

After many years of competing in the National Cross Country Championships Roisin O’ Hanlon, recently crowned Tallaght A.C. club juvenile athlete of the year, finally made her mark in Coleraine last weekend, where she helped Dublin secure both Inter County & Regional gold medals after a fantastic run in the U19 Championships. This was undoubtedly a great result for her after just missing out by one place for the same honours, when she contested the U18 Championships a few weeks earlier in Kilbeggan.

At the same venue Conor Murray added to the Inter county medals he won at Kilbeggan when his finishing position helped Dublin take Inter County bronze at U15 degree, whilst Senior athlete of the year Jaqui Boyle again produced anther great effort, making up two places on her qualifying run in the Dublin’s to help the Capital take Inter County bronze in the Novice ladies.

Unfortunately, U11’s Seamus Noone and Christopher Duffy and our U13 Dublin Champion Evan Flynn did not get a fair opportunity to show their worth after their races were marred by incidents and controversy. However, they will no doubt have many future opportunities.

Elsewhere, Tomas Fitzpatrick was in sparkling form in the Jingle Bells 5k, hosted by Donore Harriers in the Phoenix Park where he was the 2nd of the 1600 competitors to cross the line with an excellent time of 14.36. Davy Byrne again ran his socks off to finish 19th overall (15.40), with Eoin Brennan (17.08) and Luke Coleman (17.20) next to finish for the club.
