Dublin Indoor Track and Field Championships 14th / 15th February Tallaght Athletic Club were back in action in a big way at the second and final weekend of this years Dublin Indoor Track and Field Championships in Santry Stadium. Friday night was all about Relay events and first on the podium for the club were the Boys U15 4X200M Team of Brian Gregan, Sean Morris, Luke Coleman and Robert Fitzsimons who secured the bronze medal . The Boys U17 4x200M Team of Keith Hudson, David Somerville, Shane Doody and Chris Healy went one better when finishing in second place to take silver. Appropriately however Valentines night belonged to the girls and the Tallaght U19 4X200M of Fiona Mc Carthy, Orla Nugent, Tracy Williams and Stephanie Game sped home to win gold. All three teams now go forward to the National Finals in Nenagh. Saturdays
events were all field events and the day started well with Stephanie Game
winning silver in the U18 Long Jump. Sarah Bodie went close with a fourth finish
in the U15 Girls Shot Putt while Rebecca Game finished fifth in a very tough U14
Long Jump competition. The last lady athlete in competition was Claire Murray
who as expected won the U19 Shot
Putt. Brian
Gregan ensured the boys had their say when winning silver in the U15 Long Jump
with two personal best performances and then secured bronze in the U15 Shot
competition. Shane Doody also jumped really well to take silver in U16 Long Jump
while Derek Quinn making his debut in the U14 Shot Putt saw off some strong
opposition to take the silver medal. On
Saturday night the Dublin Athletic Board presented its 2002 Cross –Country
League awards and Tallaght AC had 18 athletes who received awards.
